D3Tennis,
With regionals and nationals completed, what do you believe the rankings for singles and doubles should be?
Does this change any of your preseason team rankings?
I am curious to hear from everybody and get this site running again.

I am not sure that it is possible to do national rankings just yet. I will do a breakdown of every regional and the small college nationals in the next week. Then i will post rankings. ITA rankings should be coming out at the begiining of November. Should be interesting. If anyone can give me some insight from a particular regional that would be helpful...

How about Amherst's impressive string of matches this fall?

Did anyone get the chance to see Piskacek play?

Looks like Gustavus will find a way of being good yet again this year...

i saw piskacek play at regionals....he is obviously a very good player with a very clean game, but he is still a little rusty from having taken 2 and a half years off

Never discount a good player just because they are "rusty".  I have seen a few guys who came back to play a DOMINANT level in both d2 and d3 who had not played a competitive match in a few years.  They both went on to be dominant in their conferences.  In fact, one was the player of the year in his conf and hadn't played a match in 3 years.

New England, West, and Central Regions will be the toughest.  Gustavus will be good again, but not sure they will be close to Wash U, Kenyon, or even Chicago.  Chicago needs to come through this year.  They should have done better the last 2 years.  Amherst looks like the real deal and didn't even play full strength against the Hopkins, Carnegie, and Kenyon teams.  CMS and Santa Cruz will battle it out for their region.  Emory will have a cake walk. I hope the NCAA committee sends them someone in the spring.

Amherst also did a really terrific job of stacking in the fall.  Their #2 Moritz Koenig has managed to lose about every match 2,2 while also playing #6 for them last year.  There is no way they can keep that up.

STACKING in the fall.....that is why I LOVE COLLEGE TENNIS!

Seriously - what other sport allows you to take advantage of obvious opportunities to "cheat"?  That is right, college tennis!

Kudos - MarkyMark is the winner of the "I am the first person to mention stacking on the forum" award!

After having seen Moritz play in Kenyon i don't think its that much of a stack. I've seen him play: big serve, good volleys.

I'll be the first one to call out a stack but despite being streaky the kid can play.

Remember big serves go a long way.

A big serve and good volleys do go a long way but not when you miss every other ball and can't make a return.  Go on collegetennisonline and it's intriguing that he played 6 last year and still lost consistently.
